Terms of use

These are the terms you accept by using ScaleUp. They are short, and they are in plain English, because a rule nobody reads is a rule nobody follows.

"We" is ScaleUp, run from India. "You" is the person using it.

Who may use it

You must be eighteen or older, and the account must be your own. One person, one account.

Your account

You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code sent to it, so the phone is the key: anybody holding it can get into your account. Tell us at admin@scaleupapp.club if you think somebody else has.

You can delete your account at any time, from Your data in the app. What happens to what we hold when you do is in the privacy policy.

How to use it

Use ScaleUp the way a person uses it. In particular:

• No automation. No bots, no scripts, and no scraping the questions or the answers.
• No sharing answers. Not with another player, not in a group, not anywhere. The whole product rests on you not having seen the answer.
• One account each. Not several, and not somebody else's.
• No abuse. Nothing you write where other people can read it may attack somebody, and nothing you submit may be somebody else's work passed off as yours.

The product runs its own fairness checks, and a seat can be put on hold while a person looks at what one of them found. A hold stops the account playing. It deletes nothing: you can still ask for a copy of your data and ask us to delete your account. To ask us to look again, write to admin@scaleupapp.club. We can suspend or close an account that keeps breaking these rules, and we say why.

The Score and your Record

The Score is ours to compute. It is arithmetic over the answers you gave, under rules we publish and change openly, and we may recompute it. We do when a player asks us to check a case and we find the question was wrong: every answer to that question is then put right.

Your Record is yours to show. Nothing on your Record page is public until you choose to show it, and you can turn sharing off at any time. It is a statement about the work you did here and nothing more.

Coins and contests

Coins are a token inside the product, and they are earned by playing. They are not money. They cannot be bought, sold, transferred for money or cashed out, and they have no cash value. We can adjust a balance to correct a mistake, and the ledger says when we did.

Contests are entered with coins and pay out coins. There is no cash entry and no cash prize. The contest rules are part of these terms.

Paying

ScaleUp is free to use today. A paid membership will be offered later, through the App Store, and its price will be shown in the app before anyone pays. If yours is a founding account, as announced on scaleupapp.club when you joined, you keep free access for life.

We take no payment outside the App Store. How a refund works is in the refund policy, which is part of these terms.

Who owns what

The situations, the questions, the marking, the app itself and everything we wrote are ours. You may not copy them, publish them, or build a rival bank out of them.

What you write is yours. Your answers, your messages to us and your feature requests stay yours. You give us permission to store them, to mark your answers, and to show a feature request you post to other players, without your name. That permission lasts as long as the work is in the product. Deleting your account ends it, except that a feature request you posted stays on the board, still without your name.

What we do not promise

ScaleUp is an educational product: it teaches judgment and it measures it. It does not promise you a job, an interview, a promotion or any other outcome at work, and nobody here will tell you otherwise. It is not professional advice about your own company.

We work to keep the product running, and we do not promise it will never be unavailable.

Ending it

You can stop at any time by closing your account. We can end an account that keeps breaking these rules, or one we are required to close. If we end yours, we tell you why.

When these terms change

They are versioned. Each new version is published with its number and its date, and the version you agreed to is kept exactly as it was.

Law and contact

These terms are between you and SCALEUP LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES PVT LTD, Tin Factory, 78, Old Madras Road, Mahadevpura, Doorvaninagar, Bangalore North, Karnataka 560016, India. Indian law governs them, and the courts at Bangalore, Karnataka have jurisdiction over anything arising out of them.
